The story follows Prince Ram of Ayodhya (Gurmeet Choudhary), whose stepmother Kaikeyi forces him into a 14-year exile. Accompanied by his wife Sita (Debina Bonnerjee) and brother Lakshman (Ankit Arora), his journey leads to Sita’s abduction by the demon king Ravana (Akhilendra Mishra), culminating in an epic war. The plot drew from Valmiki's Ramayan and Tulsidas's Ramcharitmanas.
Visually, the show moved away from the static, stage-like sets of the 1980s, utilizing grander architecture, detailed jewelry, and enhanced to depict supernatural elements .
