At its heart, Kimi ni Todoke: From Me to You is a beautifully told story about an outcast girl who desperately wants to fit in. The plot centers on Sawako Kuronuma, a kind-hearted but socially awkward high school girl. Her long, black hair and pale complexion unfortunately make her resemble the vengeful spirit Sadako from the horror film The Ring . Because of this, her classmates cruelly nickname her "Sadako" and fear her, leaving her completely isolated.
