Theonestus is intimately connected to Saint Eusebius of Vercelli, a prominent 4th-century bishop. One of the only ancient sources mentioning Theonestus is Eusebius's biography, which states that Eusebius wished to be buried near Theonestus's relics. Eusebius also dedicated a basilica to him. The relics of Saint Theonestus are still preserved in the Cathedral of Vercelli (Duomo di Vercelli) in Italy, where they rest in a niche above the altar. His feast day is celebrated on November 20th.
