WIM natively supports LZX compression. This shrinks a fully configured Windows XP installation down to a fraction of its size.
For the second image, boot the second reference machine (after Sysprep) and use: windows xp wim
Identify your drive letters. Your Windows XP partition might appear as D: or E: inside WinPE, while your external storage drive where you want to save the WIM will have another letter. Running the Capture Command WIM natively supports LZX compression

Verify that NTLDR , NTDETECT.COM , and boot.ini are present in the root of C:\ . If they are missing, copy them manually from an XP installation disk or your image archive. Reboot the computer, and Windows XP will start its Mini-Setup phase. Advanced Management: Offline Servicing
