Initial plans existed for a more ambitious project. It was earlier reported that a partially re-shot and dubbed Tamil version titled Mannathi Mannan was in the works, honoring a 1960 M.G. Ramachandran (MGR) classic. While Maaveeran was the version released, the episode highlights the strong demand for the film in Tamil, a demand that piracy websites like Tamilyogi unfortunately exploit.
