The Dreamcast, however, uses a disc-based operating system. Without the BIOS, Flycast doesn't know how to tell the virtual Dreamcast to read the CDI or GDI file you just loaded. The emulator cannot "fake" the security handshake easily because the encryption is proprietary. Therefore, Flycast requires you to dump the BIOS from a physical console to translate those hardware calls accurately.
