⚠️ Crucial Warnings (Read First)

No Treble, No GSI: The SM-T280 has a 32-bit Spreadtrum/Unisoc SC8830 chipset. It does NOT support Project Treble. You cannot flash Generic System Images (GSIs) like LineageOS GSI or AOSP GSI. Limited ROMs: Development is almost dead. Only Android 7.1.1 Nougat based ROMs exist (or stock 6.0.1). No Android 8/9/10/11/12/13/14. Permanently Unlocked Bootloader: Samsung does not lock the bootloader on this device (no KG state). You can flash custom binaries easily. No Recovery Partition: This tablet uses Boot Image patching for TWRP. You must flash TWRP to the BOOT partition , not RECOVERY. Brick Risk: If you flash the wrong file, the device may hard brick (requires USB jig or motherboard replacement).

Note: LineageOS 14.1 is the most stable. RR has more features but slightly worse battery.

🔧 Step-by-Step Installation Step 1: Unlock Bootloader (Already Unlocked, but verify) ⚠️ Crucial Warnings (Read First) No Treble, No

Enable Developer Options: Settings → About Tablet → Tap Build Number 7x. In Developer Options: Enable OEM Unlocking (should be grayed out – means already unlocked). Enable USB Debugging .

Step 2: Flash TWRP (to BOOT partition)

Power off tablet completely. Boot into Download Mode : Press Power + Home + Volume Down together. Press Volume Up to continue. Open Odin3 on PC. Connect tablet. Odin shows Added! (Blue COM port). Uncheck "Auto Reboot" (very important). Click AP → select twrp_gtaxlwifi.img (rename to .tar if Odin doesn't see it – or use TWRP_3.2.3_SM-T280.tar if pre-packaged). Options tab: Only F. Reset Time checked. Auto Reboot = OFF. Click Start . When PASS! appears, disconnect USB and force reboot to TWRP: Power + Home + Volume UP (hold until TWRP logo appears). Limited ROMs: Development is almost dead

Step 3: Wipe and Prepare

In TWRP: Go to Wipe → Advanced Wipe . Select: Dalvik / ART Cache , Cache , System , Data . DO NOT wipe Internal Storage (if you want to keep ROM zip) – or copy ROM first. Swipe to Wipe.
